At Josie's

[J]

"I've been waiting all day for this moment", sat Jason thinking. Absorbed in Mel's eyes, dreading the arrival of the coming work week, relishing the moment we have finally. Our spot away from the stress of life.

Cleaning the rain from my glasses, I glance over to you. I see you're doing the same. Fully able to gaze into each other's eyes now, smiling warmly back to each other.

"What?" you tease. Knowing what I will say already. It's the same you desire.

"Your eyes, I've missed them." My smile growing. Rubbing my thumb over the back of your hand. Lightly massaging the pain away.

You put your glasses back on. The rose color flushes me every time. I see your eyes, with the color of love now, staring back, I melt every single time.

The music playing in the background starts to catch my attention. Realizing you've already chosen the songs for the night. Intoxicated by what you are scheming now, I have to know.

The guitar, tickling inside my ear. You sense the change in behavior from me.

"What are you thinking, Love?" I hear you ask. Love... every time I heard her say it with her voice. Calling me to her. "Love?" I hear you ask again, bringing me back to you. I smile deeply back at you. My eyes softening. Putty in your hands.

"You, I'm always thinking of you." I'm still not comfortable with a nickname for her. I've been searching, but they all are taken by bad memories, lost voices. She is my calm seas.

"My love though, what are you desiring tonight?" I calmly say "I see you've played us a melody, I'm awaiting to see where the journey is leading us tonight." Mischievously smiling back now.

"Just this, just us, together." You say back.

"You're setting the mood for later. I'm sure you have some wine already picked out for the night?"

(I will not try. Your time to shine with wine :P)

You tease of the notes of cedar and the tartness of some floral bit. Things I had no idea to look for before you.

Our waitress arrives just in time to interrupt us. "What are we having tonight?"

"We'll have a bottle of ...." you say excitedly.

I just stare in awe. The way your eyes light up when telling me about the wine. Every detail sounds divine. Inviting in a way. Usually the alcohol is used to erase memories. With her, they do not go away. They linger on my tongue. I still taste the last time we were together...

"Any appetizers today?" The dream broken again. Always interrupted when I'm dreaming of you.
